Both metallic colors are especially effective when stamped onto black or dark cardstock, where the opaque pigment creates dramatic contrast and makes intricate designs easy to see.

Unlike a translucent wash of color, these pigment inks create a more substantial metallic impression, making detailed florals, typography, borders, frames, butterflies, damasks, and other intricate stamped designs stand out beautifully. The metallic finish is especially dramatic on black and dark cardstock, where Gold Shimmer and Silver Sparkle create an elegant foil-like visual effect without the need for actual foil.

The project photos show just how versatile the two colors can be. Gold Shimmer adds warmth and an antique-gilded feeling to floral motifs, labels, butterflies, tags, stationery, and vintage-inspired paper projects, while Silver Sparkle creates a cooler, refined metallic finish that works beautifully with ornate designs and detailed linework. Pigment ink is designed to produce rich, highly visible color with excellent opacity and detail. With these IOD metallic formulations, that means a crisp stamped impression paired with a shimmering gold or silver finish.

IOD’s metallic pigment ink is water-based, acid-free, archival, and air drying. On cardstock, allow approximately 10–15 minutes for the ink to dry. Actual drying time can vary depending on the surface, amount of ink applied, temperature, humidity, and other conditions.

• Allow approximately 10–15 minutes for stamped impressions to air dry on cardstock before handling

• Drying time may vary depending on the surface, amount of ink, temperature, humidity, and environmental conditions

• Avoid touching or stacking freshly stamped pieces until the ink has dried

• Test on a small area first when working with an unfamiliar paper, cardstock, glossy paper, or uncoated wood surface

• Use the coordinating Gold Shimmer refill only with the Gold Shimmer pad and the Silver Sparkle refill only with the Silver Sparkle pad

• Keep the ink pad closed when not in use to help maintain its condition
