You can use them on their own, and, guess what! You’ll be able to MIX these inks to create even MORE colors! And you can use the new 3-pack of IOD Custom Color Empty Ink Bottles to conduct the mixing. So, let’s talk about IOD Ink Mixing, and, the “White Mixing Ink.” IOD planned the palette so that a full range of color can be achieved with mixing. While the IOD Tomotto, IOD Turmeric and IOD China Blue (or maybe IOD Oceans Depp) are not truly primary (technically), IOD aimed to get close to primary for mixing range, but to be prettier on their own than true primary, so they are good standalone. The inks are bright and saturated, because it’s easy to desaturate and lighten, but not the opposite. So, if you want a more muted color, you can add a drop of black, or, if you want to lighten it up, you can add the IOD Mixing White. But, to mix IOD Décor Ink, you do not need any mixative, just mix the colors together. The IOD Mixing White is called that because it isn’t as opaque as a standalone white would be, as it was designed to lighten up other colors. For example, if you want to make pink, you would use the IOD Tomotto Ink and the IOD Mixing White. You CAN use IOD Mixing White alone, but it’s a bit sheer, so just keep that in mind. If you have used blending white vs titanium white in acrylic artists paints, it’s kind of like that. The IOD Custom Color Empty Ink Bottles are for creating your own color mixes and storing them! When mixing your own color, you will not want to apply them directly to IOD Ink Pads to mix, rather, you would create your color by adding the appropriate amounts to an IOD Custom Color Empty Ink Bottle, and then labeling it on the white part of the label. Then, you could ink a new IOD Ink Pad with your new custom color from the IOD Custom Color Empty Ink Bottle. PRO TIP! Its recommended to use a white palette material to use drops to mix and test colors, so you don’t waste ink, and you are able to keep track of your “recipe.” For example, use 2 drops of China Blue, and one drop of Tomotto, one drop of Black might create an eggplant color (that’s not accurate I’m just using as an example off top of head). I can’t want to see all of the amazing recipes and palettes everyone creates and shares! Buy new 2019 Fall Release IOD Decor Inks |
